As we prepare to celebrate Harvest once again, we do so in the knowledge that our Farmers have had a particularly difficult time again this year, due in no small part to the climate crisis.
Yesterday at St. Mary’s we welcomed a church full of people to a community screening of the film “The People’s Emergency Crisis”. It was certainly a tough watch! Presented by Chris Packham, the film featured climate scientists as well as experts in fields as diverse as biodiversity, economics, business, agriculture, housing, politics, and others, to powerfully illustrate how the changing climate affects all aspects of life. The film provoked plenty of discussion, as well as a general feeling that urgent action needs to be taken. The film also provided seeds of hope, that if we act now, we can ensure a more positive future for everybody. There is a call for the Government to hold its own public emergency briefing on TV, of you think that this is a good idea you might wish to consider contacting your MP. More information can be found on the Emergency Briefing website https://www.nebriefing.org/peb
