Ketton and Tinwell Benefice

At a christening, we celebrate the birth of your child; knowing that they are special and loved by God. During the service, your child will be baptised; in other words, they will have water sprinkled on them as a sign of new life and will be blessed by name.

In the service, you promise that you will do what you can to bring up your child as part of God’s family, and we promise that we will make them welcome as part of our church community.

Godparents are friends or family who are prepared to make these promises alongside the parents and support them in this task. It is usual to have three godparents, but more are possible.

Children should normally be baptised in their own parish church. If parents are seeking baptism in some other church, they may be asked to seek authorisation from the priest of their own parish.

If you would like to book a christening please contact the Vicar, Revd Dean Akrill 01780 723181, vicar@kettonandtinwell.uk

If you’d prefer a more general service of Thanksgiving & Blessing for your child, please let us know.

There is no charge for a baptism but we are very grateful for all donations to the ministry in Ketton and Tinwell.
