Greetings to you all.
Despite these difficult times I have now been licensed as the priest-in-charge of the parish of Ketton and Tinwell and feel very blessed to be here. I was licensed in a virtual service by Bishop John on Saturday. This wasn’t what any of us expected or wanted but the most important thing is that I am in post.
I want to thank everyone who has helped make this transition smooth, in particular the church wardens, Peter B who worked hard to make sure the house was in a suitable state to move into and Peter N who worked with the arrangements for the installation service which sadly didn’t take place. I also want to thank those who cleaned the house and tended the garden and trimmed the hedges, it all made the move so much easier. We have also received cards and gifts and welcome messages – so thank you.
In order to begin ministry here I will prepare a short act of worship including a sermon which will be put on YouTube and on a personal blog. There will be something for each Sunday and I also plan some reflections for Holy Week. This is a new way of working for me so it may take a little while to understand what works best. Please bear with me. I hope that this will help people to continue to engage in worship even though we can’t worship in church.
I am very conscious that I have only met a handful of people from the parish. Please feel free to phone me or email me and introduce yourselves – even if I can’t meet you face to face at the moment, we can still begin to make connections. I look forward to hearing from you.
The Lord bless you and keep you safe through these hard times –
With all good wishes
Olwen
