Order of Service
Welcome
Hymn: ‘All My Hope on God is Founded’
1. All my hope on God is founded,
all my trust he shall renew;
he, my guide through changing order,
only good and only true:
God unknown, he alone
calls my heart to be his own.
2. Day by day our mighty giver
grants to us his gifts of love;
in his will our souls find pleasure,
leading to our home above:
love shall stand at his hand,
joy shall wait for his command.
3. Still from Earth to God eternal
sacrifice of praise be done;
high above all praises praising
for the gift of Christ his Son:
hear Christ’s call, one and all –
we who follow shall not fall.

Introduction
We meet in the presence of God.
We commit ourselves to work in penitence and faith for reconciliation between the nations; that all people may together, live in freedom, justice and peace.
We pray for all who in bereavement, disability and pain continue to suffer the consequences of fighting and terror.
We remember with thanksgiving and sorrow those whose lives, in world wars and conflicts past and present, have been given and taken away.Let us confess to God the sins and shortcomings of the world;
It’s pride, its selfishness, its greed; It’s evil divisions and hatreds.
Let us confess our share in what is wrong,
and our failure to seek and stablish that peace
which God wills for his children.
Most Merciful God,
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
We confess that we have sinned in thought, word and deed.
We have not loved you with our whole heart.
We have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.
In your mercy forgive what we have been,
Help us to amend what we are, And direct what we shall be:
That we may do justly, love mercy, love mercy,
And walk humbly with you, our God. Amen
Almighty God, who forgives all who truly repent,
have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver youfrom all yoursins,
confirm and strengthen youin all goodness,
and keep you in life eternal;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Collect
God our refuge and strength,
Bring near the day when wars shall cease
And poverty and pain shall end,
That earth may know the peace of heaven
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
The First Lesson from the Book of Micah, Chapter 4 Verses 1 – 5
Read by Sinclair Rogers Chairman, Ketton Parish Council
Micah 4:1-5
In days to come
the mountain of the Lord’s house
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and shall be raised up above the hills.
Peoples shall stream to it,
2 and many nations shall come and say:
‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob;
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.’
For out of Zion shall go forth instruction,
and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
3 He shall judge between many peoples,
and shall arbitrate between strong nations far away;
they shall beat their swords into ploughshares,
and their spears into pruning-hooks;
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war any more;
4 but they shall all sit under their own vines and under their own fig trees,
and no one shall make them afraid;
for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.
5 For all the peoples walk,
each in the name of its god,
but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God
for ever and ever.
The Second Lesson from St. John’s Gospel, Chapter 15 Verses 9-17
Read by Rev’d Olwen Woolcock
John 15 verses 9 – 17
As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11 I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.
12 ‘This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. 16 You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name. 17 I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.
HYMN: I vow to thee, my country
I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no questions, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And there’s another country, I’ve heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.

HYMN: ‘O God Our Help in Ages Past’
The Act of Remembrance takes place outside at the war memorial
(Rev’d Woolcock)
Let us remember before God
and commend to his safe keeping,
those who have died for their country in war;
those whom we knew, and those whose memory we treasure;
and all who have lived and died
in the service of the peoples of the world.

Reveille
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
We will remember them

Almighty and eternal God, from whose love in Christ we cannot be parted, either by death or life: hear our prayers and thanksgivings for those whom we remember this day: Fulfil in them the purpose of your love and bring us, with them, to your eternal joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.
Let us pledge ourselves anew to the service of God and our brothers and sisters throughout the world: that we may help, encourage and support those working for the relief of the needy and the peace and welfare of the nations.
The Blessing and Dismissal
God grant to the living, grace; to the departed rest,
To the church, the Queen and the Commonwealth and all people, unity peace and concord, and to us and all God’s servants, life everlasting;
And the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always.
Go in peace to love and serve the Lord
Amen
